Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest”: A trivial comedy for serious people. Amid a flurry of mistaken identity, witty banter, and cucumber sandwiches, Jack and Algy fabricate delicious double lives in order to escape the straight jacket of societal norms.
Wilde’s hilarious comedy on the out of touch and frivolous nature of high society folks continues to remain relevant thanks to its everlasting universal humour. This imagining of a much loved classic celebrates the fluidity of gender and the joy of a musical interlude reminding us that “the truth is rarely pure, and never simple…”
'This show is not like the Importance of Being Earnest you've seen before. The Meeting Place at GPAC will become The Bunbury Club, and whilst you enjoy a glass of red or white or a delicious cocktail, the performance will be all around you as the hijinks of Algernon and friends, along with singing group 'The Downlows' weave a crazy spell for an exciting night out with friends and family.'
