REeNTRANCE

Join members of our local Goulburn performing arts community in a celebration of cherished memories, combined moments and the continuation of building momentum into the future, brought together by our various community groups and individuals

This Grand Opening Performance of the Goulburn Performing Arts Centre, REeNTRANCE, is a collaboration using drama, storytelling, dance, song, costumes, stagecraft and music; capturing stories inspired by the elements in the form of a message stick. A message stick in First Nations culture represents a public form of graphic communication. They are carried by messengers over long distances and are used for reinforcing a verbal message that carries great importance. Our message is thus: the arts are thriving within the Goulburn region and deserve a permanent stage for celebration.

From the beginning of time in the vastness of what we know as Australia, this great land sang songs from its trees and waterways, kept rhythm as rain fell from above, and painted great landscapes and skies of varying colour. Creatures of the land, sea and the sky danced beautiful movements, all of which continue today and will hopefully continue long after what we call ‘the now’. Representatives of the performing arts throughout this country continue to draw their inspiration as they interact and engage with these elements. Elements which help shape our language, relationships, movements, songs, culture, connections, and community.
