We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and other First Nations people of the Goulburn Mulwaree area and pay our respects to their Ancestors and current and future Elders. We honour the enduring culture and traditions of Indigenous Australians and welcome all First Nations people to our venue.
Writer and celebrated WW1 war nurse Millicient Armstrong lived in Goulburn and farmed land near Gunning. Her brilliant and award winning plays, in the Australian Gothic tradition — with dark melodrama and domestic comedy, have been almost forgotten. Until now.
A brilliant cast of actors will recreate four of her plays in her old home town, in the new Goulburn Performing Arts Centre. With themes including the struggles of life on the land, sexual violence, and with strong female characters and sparkling dialogue, the plays have a remarkably contemporary resonance. Join us to celebrate and revive the work of this enigmatic local hero as part of the inaugural Festival of Regional Theatre
Festival of Regional Theatre is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Reconnecting Regional NSW – Community Events Program in association with Goulburn Mulwaree Council. Produced by Music Theatre Projects Ltd
